After over a year off the road due to covid restrictions, Moors for the Future Partnership’s state-of-the-art Bogtastic van – that showcases the iconic Peak District and South Pennines moors - is gearing up to return to action.
The Bogtastic van is the world’s first bog in a van! It’s kitted out with artwork, sound and a spongey floor to emulate the experience of being on moorland. Aimed at people of all ages, it helps spread the message that bogs are fantastic.
The Bogtastic van will visit towns and popular countryside places for people to experience the sights, sounds and sensatons of our local uplands. After the van’s year on “furlough”, the Moors for the Future Partnership team can’t wait to be back on the road. There’s lots to learn and experience about the wildlife of the moors and the benefits that healthy bogs bring to everyone.
Moors for the Future Partnership staff will also be talking about important conservation messages and helping people to look after the moors. As summer approaches, preventing wildfires is vitally important and everyone who visits to uplands can do their part by not bringing barbecues or campfires into the countryside and taking their litter home.
We will be at a number of locations in May half term, including Longshaw near Sheffield and Mam Nick car park near Castleton. Look out for the Bogtastic van rolling into a town near you later this year!
