Monitoring Success
An extensive monitoring programme was undertaken to determine the success of the conservation works. You can explore the different types of monitoring undertaken during the project by using the links below.
As well as looking at how well vegetation established on the bare peat, the monitoring also looked at the hydrology and peat erosion/ accumulation rates to see how these changed following the works.

MoorLIFE water quality monitoring
A weekly programme of water monitoring took place at a number of sites across the Peak District and South Pennines, including MoorLIFE sites at Black Hill, Rishworth Common and Turley Holes.
MoorLIFE water table monitoring
During the MoorLIFE project volunteers collected thousands of measurements from dipwells and downloaded data from automated 'loggers'.
MoorLIFE vegetation monitoring
To measure the changes in the moorland vegetation communities in relation to land management activities an annual vegetation monitoring campaign took place.
