Youth group leaders, teachers and parents!  We’re keen to help young people connect with their local moorlands in the Peak District and South Pennines.

Edale Moorland Junior Rangers

Edale Moorland Junior Rangers meet once a month. As a proud member of the Europarc Junior Ranger Programme within the Peak District National Park, the group was set up at the end of 2018 with the aim of inspiring a new generation of conservationists.

Monthly sessions feature a range of conservation activities including citizen science and habitat management. The group is developing outdoor working skills such as navigation, species identification and surveying.

Exploring the habitats around Edale through the changing seasons, the group gather data and contribute to Moors for the Future Partnership’s monitoring activities, as well as supporting the role of Peak District National Park and National Trust rangers.

Bradford South District scouts group 

We’re working with Scouts from the Bradford South District to connect their members to their nearby moorland habitats. With visits throughout the year, we capture data each time we visit; taking part in moorland conservation. We will soon have enough data to share what we have found. It has given the young people taking part a chance to connect to this precious landscape and revisit it through the seasons to see how it changes.
